Banking Beyond Credit: Powering Eastern India's Industrial Future

23 September 2026
Kolkata

Eastern India is entering a critical phase of economic transformation, driven by industrial expansion, infrastructure development and the emergence of new growth sectors. The session will explore how banks, financial institutions and other stakeholders can mobilise capital, strengthen the regional credit ecosystem and create financing pathways that support investment, enterprise growth and employment generation across the region.

The next phase of Eastern India's industrial growth will require a strong and responsive credit ecosystem to support projects of varying scales and investment horizons. This session will examine financing requirements across manufacturing, mining, logistics, industrial corridors and infrastructure, while exploring how financial institutions can develop coordinated and sector-specific approaches to finance the region's industrial ambitions.

Access to capital depends not only on the availability of finance but also on the ability of enterprises to demonstrate creditworthiness, transparency and financial discipline. This session will examine the strategic role of credit rating agencies in improving the bankability of corporates and MSMEs, strengthening lender and investor confidence, and enabling businesses to access a wider range of funding opportunities beyond conventional bank lending.

Technology is rapidly transforming how financial institutions assess risk, deliver services, manage compliance and engage with customers. This session will explore how FinTech, RegTech and artificial intelligence are reshaping banking operations, credit delivery and customer experience. It will also examine how financial institutions can adopt innovation responsibly while maintaining cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, data protection and trust.

Women-led enterprises are increasingly contributing to economic activity, employment creation and local development, yet many continue to face challenges in accessing timely and adequate finance. This session will examine how the financial ecosystem can move beyond basic credit access to support the expansion and formalisation of women-led businesses through customised financial products, stronger advisory support and more inclusive credit assessment frameworks.

MSMEs form the foundation of Eastern India's industrial economy, but many enterprises face financing constraints as they seek to expand, modernise and enter new markets. This session will examine how banks and financial institutions can build scalable financing pathways that support enterprises across different stages of growth, enabling promising MSMEs to strengthen their capabilities, improve competitiveness and emerge as successful mid-market companies.

Eastern India's growth ambitions require a financial ecosystem that is inclusive, technology-enabled and aligned with the evolving needs of businesses and emerging sectors. This session will examine how banks, financial institutions, FinTech companies and other stakeholders can collaborate to deepen financial access, strengthen institutional capacity and develop innovative financing solutions that support sustainable and broad-based economic growth across the region.
